He spoke to German Hoops after the 73-62 loss against the Fraport Skyliners in Leipzig.
Patrick thanks for talking to German Hoops. A tough 73-62 loss to the Fraport Skyliners. You played in Leipzig. What kind of an atmosphere was it there and how much did it feel like a home game?
The atmosphere was a bit different but it was a nice arena to play in and it was a home game so it felt like a home game.
Was that Wolf den atmosphere missing a bit from the Leipzig arena? Teams come into Weissenfels knowing it will be an uncomfortable place?
In Weissenfels it is a different atmosphere but there are no excuses because basketball is basketball wherever you play.
Frankfurt still had a walking wounded list, but had Sean Armand back as well as newcomer Justin Cobbs. What was your first impression of the American?
Well I played again Cobbs while I was in college so I knew what to do. Frankfurt all around played a good game and took us out of rhythm all night
The Fraport Skyliners had the slim 31-28 lead at halftime and sped out on a 12-0 run to start the third quarter. What was the cause of MBC coming out flat?
I honestly don’t know an exact reason for coming out flat but the entire game we had no rhythm at all. That’s a credit to Frankfurts defensive efforts and them just being more physical than us
Was a big key for the Frankfurt win their big men who all played very consistently with Voigtmann, Doornekamp and Barthel and Richter from the bench.
They did beat us up inside a lot but it was because we didn’t have good rotations defensively all night.
MBC didn´t defend badly, but very solid, but Frankfurt were even better on the defensive side. What positive aspect can you take out of this loss which will help focus on the next game against medi Bayreuth.
Well one thing is each game is different. We just have to move on forward to the next game. Our defense and intensity has to be better. During the season we haven’t had that problem but last night we did.
Usually when Christian Standhardinger has a top offensive game you win. He was held to six points and a rebound in 19 minutes. Is MBC at times to dependent on the German?
I don’t believe we are too dependent on anyone on our team. We are a TEAM and one player doesn’t make us go.
Today is the first advent in Germany. What are you looking forward to most about the German Christmas?
Well my mom dad and my girlfriend are coming to visit here for Christmas so I’m really looking forward to seeing them for that time.
What was the last DVD movie that you saw?
The last DVD movie I saw was blue streak. Thanks miles!
