The American is one of the rare players to make the jump from German Pro B to the Beko BBL and made an impressive debut scoring 22 points and dishing out seven assists. He talked to German Hoops after the 105-104 win against the Fraport Skyliners.

Congrats on the big 105-104 OT win against the Fraport Skyliners. It was your first Beko BBL game. How did you feel?

I felt great and even better after the win. I was happy with my performance, but I could of cut down on the turnovers. I don´t want to feel complacent, but just keep working and getting better at this level.

It was back and forth until the end. What was key for grinding out this win at the end?

It just came down to who got that last stop. We got the last bucket and just stepped it up on the defensive end never losing that aggressiveness.

You are a scoring point guard, but you make the right decisions. Talk about the last bucket where you passed up a shot and found Urule Igbavboa?

I wanted to get to the hole, bit saw Mike Morrison and he is so long that I was afraid he might block me. I waited until Morrison committed and in the corner of my eye I saw Urule cutting to the basket and found him.

You and Richard Williams have had that Cinderella story in that you have come from the German Pro B to the Beko BBL. What memories do you have against Williams with NBC two years ago against SC Rasta Vechta?

I remember Williams well from the German Pro B. We only played one time 2 seasons ago as I had come late to NBC. I do remember that he has never been 100%. With NBC when we played him he was coming off an injury and today he wasn´t 100% either. He is always tough competition and I have a lot of respect for him.

What was your impression of the Fraport Skyliners. Do you think that they could slip into the Beko BBL playoffs?

They are a good team and have fine pieces at all positions. They are solid at the guard with Williams and Klein, have tough shooters with Armand and Koivisto and a great big with Morrison and not to forget the young German Barthel who played NBA Summer league. It is tough to say at this point what they can do, but I believe they will be at the top half of the standings.

Your teammate Larry Gordon has really developed in Hagen and has improved his stats. I see him having an MVP type year this season. Do you agree?

He really fills up the stats sheet and does a bit of everything especially scoring and rebounding. He worked very hard this past summer and has improved his game. He is our leader with David Bell and a very special guy.

On what areas does Phoenix Hagen still have to improve on?

We will watch film after this game and head coach Ingo Freyer will tell us what needs to be done. I liked how we never gave up and never hung our heads. These are things that we can buold on.

The next game is in 48 hours against Bremerhaven. Will the team be ready after so little rest and preparation?

I think that Ingo Freyer did a good job playing many pre season games. This got us ready for these of type situations where we have games a few days apart. We are fit and will be ready for Bremerhaven.

Where will the journey of the Brooklyn Nets end?

I am from Brooklyn and was never a Knicks fan. It is hard to predict. The east is loaded with many good teams. We lost some key players so we will see.

What was the last DVD movie that you saw?

The new Transformers movie.

Thanks Zamal for the chat.
