Last season he played for te Giessen 46ers playing 29 games: 5.6ppg, 2.0rpg, FGP: 42.9%, 3PT: 37.3%, FT: 75.6%. He spoke to German Hoops before the final game in Goettingen for the Pro A title.
Dominik thanks for talking to German Hoops. Recently you helped BG Goettingen move up to the Beko BBL. How was this time different than with Phoenix Hagen in 2009. Was one more sweeter than the other?
It was equally sweet but my role this year was different. Back in 2009 I was a lot younger and not that experienced. I think I helped my team much more this year than I had been able to do in Hagen.
How do you like the German Pro A policy of the soccer like rules of two final games that are decided on the point total difference in both games?
I don’t like it at all. It should be either another series like in the BBL or a real final. One game one winner!
BG Goettingen led by as much as seven points in the fourth quarter, but Crailsheim was able to tweek out the win. What was key for Crailsheim winning the game?
Crailsheim is a great team. Especially at home they are tough to beat. They were able to step it up in the fourth defensively which led to easy buckets on offense.
Carlos Medlock had another strong game with 17 points and seven assists. What makes him most difficult to stop on the court?
He is very versatile. good 3pt shoot with quick moves to the basket combined with good court vision looking for open teammates make him very dangerous.
Alex Ruoff and Harper Kamp combined for more than half of the BG Goettingen points. Is there a fear that the team relies too much on their play? If one of them has an off night and no one else steps up, it could be difficult to win.
We don’t worry about things like that. We’ll try to take care of our defense. If we defend and control the boards it will lead to successful plays on offense.
How excited are you about playing in the do or die game against BG Goettingen. Where would you rate the importnace of this game in your career? Is it the biggest game in your career?
It is a very important game. Might be the biggest in my career so far. I think the chance to remain unbeaten at home is pretty much unique and its also a great opportunity to clinch the championchip in front of our home crowd
BG Goettingen is in the drivers seat in the last game with home court advantage and need to win by more than two points. BG Goettingen suffered 20 turnovers and shot poorly from outside. Are these factors that the team will need to correct most on Sunday?
No doubt we must reduce turnovers. And at home we usually shoot the ball on a higher percentage.
Have you been surprised by the amount of close series in the first round of the NBA playoffs?
Looks like the only team that is crusising through the playofs is Miami right now. They are the best team in the world. In the other series I expect one or two upsets at least.
Can the Dallas Mavericks go to San Antonio and win game seven? What is your prediction?
Its hard to predict but I think SA will move to the next round.
What was the last DVD movie that you saw?
Thanks Dominik for the chat.
