Angelo thanks for talking to German Hoops. At the moment you are in Bremerhaven waiting for a settlement on your release from the team. How tough is it being in the middle of the road not being on a team and having to look for a new one?
I am still in Bremerhaven, waiting for my settlement agreement. its pretty tough not being able to play basketball period. I have a family an it’s hard to provide without a job. I have faith in my agent that a job opportunity will come soon as they come to an agreement.
I am sure you came with very own high personal expectations to Bremerhaven. How disappointed are you about not being able to stay with the team?
I am not happy with the decision, but I’m glad to have had the opportunity.
What do you think were the main reasons that the Eisbaeren Bremerhaven have decided to go in another direction without you?
It’s business, I think it’s just was the bad start of the season and they would rather have more experience in that position.
You played four games averaging only six minutes per game. Do you feel that you didn´t get a fair chance to show your basketball ability?
Yea I feel that I didn’t get a fair chance to use my strengths or athletic ability.
What have been the main reasons for the 0-4 start? Against Frankfurt the club played a strong first half and had chances to win in Braunschweig. The only real bad performance was the 40 point loss in Ulm?
It’s just that we wasn’t used to one another talents and a lot of players came in all at difference times, and the chemistry was off just a little bit, but the team are used to each other now and this club is about pull some great wins together.
Is head coach Calvin Oldham perhaps a bit too lenient with his players? Could he pull out a whip on occasion?
Coach Calvin is a good coach that works hard and puts 100% in this club. He helps you on your mistakes an makes you better as a person let alone a player.
How much has the injury to Stefan Jackson hurt the team? He is a scorer and leader and could really have helped the team in the early going?
I didn’t get a chance to be on the court with Stefan Jackson but his talent has been missed an his injury caused a lot of adjustments to coach Calvin’s system.
You tore up the NCAA 2 with Elisabeth City. Was it a tough transition coming to the European level? Is the Beko BBL style and skill level very much above the NCAA 2?
It wasn’t a tough transition A few changes to my game that I had to change but the NCAA an the BBL are two different styles of basketball.
You are a guy that can fill up the stat sheet and does very much well on the court not to forget you have an abundance of athletic ability. However what is a strength in your game that doesn´t get noticed right away?
I think my ability to pass real we’ll gets unnoticed!
If you could sell your self in a few sentences as to why any team could use you now, how would you do it?
“A player with great character and will to win an heart to play my hardest every game!”
How much fun has it been playing with poing guard Darius Adams? Has he been the best point guard that you have played with?
I have played with a lot of point guards but Darius is one of the best I have played with.
You can ask any player that has played in the Beko BBL for years and he will tell you one of the hardest workers in the game is Derrick Allen. What has been the most important thing you have learned from him on and off the court?
I’ve learned a lot from Derrick like how to be a pro an handle the business and other things that come with being a professional basketball player.
What has been your impression of German Bazoumana Kante? How much potential does he have as a basketball player?
Bazoumana is a young talented player that will be hard to stop when he gets healthy from his foot injury.
Last summer you dunked over Miles Plumnee at a camp. Who has always been your dunk hero growing up?
Of course Michael Jordan, Clyde “the glide” Drexler, Dominique Wilkins , Vince Carter, and Jason Richardson,
What was the last DVD movie that you saw?
Now you see.
Thanks Angelo for the chat.
