The American reflects about why he didn´t return back to Germany and his new life in Hungray.

Thanks again for talking to German Hoops. A week ago it seemed like you may be back to Germany to Medi Bayreuth, but instead they chose Kyle Weems. Were you a bit sad that it didn´t work out?

No I wasnt sad it didn’t work out. God just had a different team He wanted me to go to. So I knew the right situation would present itself when the time was right.

Kyle Weems had a big season in the Beko BBL and was eurobasket.com newcomer of the year. Do you think that was one of the main reasons they chose him? ON the other hand you had helped Naterre win the French title.

I dont know what was the reason in their choice but they probably felt he was a better fit for the team than I was.

It didn´t take you long to find a new club with Szolnoki Olajbanyasz in Hungary. Was this the next best offer you had after not landing with Medi Bayreuth?

I liked the situation in Szolnok

Was it just money or what was the main reasons for going to Hungary. . Former BBL players like Winsome Frazier, Brandon Gay and Kammron Taylor have played here. Did that make your decision easier?

I liked the situation in Szolnok playing in the Adriatic League and Eurochallenge and Hungarian League as well. I didnt know any of those guys played in Hungary. Didnt even look into it.

Do you feel some pressure having to perform in Hungary since it isn´t as strong as Germany and France where you have played so far in your career.

No I dont feel any pressure. Basketball is basketball no matter where you play it. the ball is always round and the goals are always 10 feet. We actually dont play in the Hungarian league until March I believe.

Your new team belongs to the top teams in Hungary. You had your first test game. What is your early impression of this team. What can it achieve?

I like our team. We have only been together for about a week including myself since I came a week after everyone else. But we already have good chemistry and I think it will only get better. I feel if we play hard and together and fight we will have a successful season.

The team only has two Americans with you and Willie Warren. Do you see yourself being the go to guy? What will your role be?

It has definitely  been an adjustment to only having one other american but with our style it will be a lot of team game instead of individual play. I will have some isolation and everything but it is more about the team and not just one player.

What has it been like playing with ex NBA player Willie Warren? He played 19 games for the Los Angeles Clippers. He can score but also dish the ball out as he showed with his season with D league team Bakersfield Jam. How have you guys been harmonizing on the court?

Its been good playing with Willie. He is definitely very talented and good guy as well. We play well together on the court and cool off the court as well.

You will be seeing one ex Beko BBL player from your rookie season in the BBL at Goettingen with Jonathan Levy. What memories do you have from him who played with Braunschweig then?

I actually cant remember playing against him. My rookie season was a while ago lol. but it is always good to see familiar faces when your in different countries.

You also will be playing against rookie Gerald Boston from North Carolina that played at Barton. Have you ever seen him play during the summers in North Carolina?

No I havent seen him play. But coming from the state of NC he has to have talent. we produce players!!!!

What has been your early impression of the country Hungary? I would imagine that there are distinct differences in living quality there compared to France and Germany?

Hungary is nice so far. The team I play for is in a small city but it is only a hour and 15 minutes from Budapest and Budapest is very nice.

How proud have you been of your good friend Ricky Hickman who had to learn the ropes in his first three years in Europe, but since 2010 has always moved up the ladder from Italy and now to his second season with top Euroleague team Macabbi Tel Aviv? I am sure you never doubted his abilities.

Ricky is more like a brother than a friend. Im very proud of him and happy for him. he worked hard to be where he is now. He has been through it all and now he is playing at the top level in Europe. Ricky has been nice since 9th grade so there was never any doubt in his talent.

What was the last DVD movie that you saw?

The last DVD I watched was Mud.

Thanks Chris for the chat.
