Congrats on the 91-82 win against your ex team Gotha. How motivated were you to play against your old team again?
Thanks, I was motivated its always special playing against your former team.
When you left Gotha, it was stated in the press release that both sides had no comment to the reasons for the termination of your contract. In the game, you had a tangle with Christop Nicol on the court. What exactly happened from your point of view?
I just told him it was a good game and thanks for some of the negative comments he had about me while I was in Gotha.
How disappointed are you about the way you have been perceived in the media in general about your departure from Gotha. In the press release to the game, it was written that you were unprofessional on the court. How much does that bother you?
That really bothers me because I was never trying to provoke their players or fans. I have respect for the BIG Gotha organization and especially their fans who were always kind to me during my time there. I think its really unprofessional from them writing negative things about a player in the press. Especially when its not true.
Why didn´t the relationship Ahmad Smith and Gotha work?
It wasn’t a good situation for both sides and was better if we just parted ways.
It was a very intense game, but what was key for getting the win in the fourth quarter and holding Gotha to four points?
We really picked up our intensity on defense in the fourth quarter and that helped us get out in transition which is our best strength.
This was your second triple double of the season for NBC. Was this game better than the one against Kirchheim?
I think I played better in the game against Kirchheim.
You are almost averaging 10 rebounds a game in the PRO A. That is a crazy stat, but shows your rebounding strength and willingness to help out. Have you worked extra on your rebounding with NBC?
Rebounding is something that I always focus on going into every game.
Do you think that your stats now will get some interest from Beko BBL teams? Why do you think have Beko BBL teams not signed you yet?
I’m not sure if I will get any interest from BBL teams. I don’t know why a BBL hasn’t signed me thats something you would have to ask them.
NBC is fighting to reach the playoffs. How positive are you that the club will reach the promised land?
We have to continue to play great defense the way we played during the fourth quarter against Gotha and we’ll be fine.
Talk is always about how big Zamal Nixon or Ronald Thompson have been, but how important has German Cornelius Adler been for the success of the team?
Cornelius has been playing great for us on both sides of the court the last couple of games he’s a hard worker and deserves it.
You and Adler are the same height. How do you push each other in practice and how do you help him get better?
Playing against him everyday in practice prepares you for the game because of his intensity every play.
Who has been your toughest player opponent in the PRO A this season?
Zamal Nixon everyday in practice.
Who are your NCAA Final 4 teams?
Louisville Michigan Arizona Indiana
What was the last DVD movie that you saw?
A Good Day To Die Hard
Thanks Ahmad for the chat
